Silver is a 7 years old Dalmation. Until recently he lived in County Clare. He is very strong on the lead and would benefit from a walking tool, e.g. a dogmatic. Some additional training would also be good. He is lovely though. Some experience with large and strong dogs will be reqiured.

Prince is a Sheepdog or Collie dog. He was handed in by a local farmer who had no use for him. He had possibly been locked up in a shed or outhouse for some time and was very traumatised. He new owner will need lots of patience and tlc will be needed to build up his confidence. Making new friends doesn't come easy for Prince. Who is going to discover what the real Prince is like?

Mika was found in an industrial area in East Wicklow. He is 2-4 years old and has neutered and groomed (read clipped). The picture shows him as he was coming in. He is not always good with new people and children and needs a home with adults who are willing to work around his minor issues.
Jessie is a female Collie and she has one blue eye and one brown. One of many Collies/Sheepdogs that come into Ash or Rescue in general, her chances of finding a loving home are not too favourable. She is worth the effort though.
Shep is another Sheep Dog. His story is similar to Prince's, Shep is probably a little older though and could be 4-6 years old. Who has a big heart and some extra space for one of the Collies?
Duke is a Staffie cross and that is a restricted breed. There are a number of rules regarding owning a restricted breed dog. The most important probably is that they need to be muzzled in public places. They always need to be on a lead (not longer than 2 yards). There are several Staffies and Staffie crosses in Ash, both male and female. They need an experienced owner who fully realises the responsibilities involved in owning and caring for a restricted breed dog.

Snowie is not white. She came in with a dog called Stumpie who is not Stumpie.Snowie is not a miniature, she is between small and medium. They used to live with an elderly person and are a bit lost in the kennels. Stumpie has been living in a foster home for a while and her pic will be up soon.

Charlie is a German Shepherd cross and has a lovely temperament. He has shared kennel/run with many different dogs, both male and female, young and old. He came to ash after he was knocked down by a car and one of his front legs was in plaster as it was fractured. We located his owner who was in a difficult situation and asked us to hang on to Charlie for a few weeks until she had sorted things out. That was 18 months ago and Charlie should become a family pet once more. He is about 5-6 years old and loves children.

DJDog is a Greyhound. DJ has been retired from racing and although he was too thin when he came in he is now ready to move on. Needless to say that it is a good home he needs with lots of time spend in the house with the family. DJ is about 3-4 years old.
Pinkie is another Staffie. She is about 4 years old. She was very thin and looks a lot better with the extra weight. She is clean in the house and very sweet, she is eager to please and although loving cats doesn't come naturally to Pinkie, she is willing to accept them just to please you. Supervision needed in that respect though.

St.John is a large male Lurcher. He made his way to Ash after he was discovered in a ditch by a farmer who rang the local Gardai station as he knew this dog needed help and help soon. Remi went out with the ambulance and took him to the vet expecting the vet to have to put him down. Severly undernourished, de-hydrated and with cruel soars from lying on concrete (his shoulder bone was visable through his skin), many of which were infected. Our vet saw potential for recovery though and after many small meals, long rests on his duvet and lots of love and care we are looking for a VERY special home for St.John. When new people walk up to his crate he sometimes growls softy for fear that his days on the warm bed are over. Once he knows there is no danger he is a lovely dog. Who would like to meet him?
Kaiser is a 5 year old German Shepherd cross. When he lost his home through no fault of his he went back to where he was born. His mother still lives there as well as one of his brothers. The 2 brothers didn't hit it off and so Kaiser has to re-locate. He is a good size smaller than a full Shepherd. Look at him, think of all the walks he would love to take with you. If you think you might fancy him come on and take him for a walk.
Pongo is 8.5 years old. He gets on with other dogs and is used to children. He is very strong and that makes it a bit of a challenge to take him for a walk. There are exellent tools though to remedy that without causing the dog discomfort.
Mika groomed looks very different from Mika's former look. Of course his coat will grow back and can be kept long but brushed and clipped around his face or shortish to make it easier to keep it need and tidy.
Zippy is a male Lurcher. He was found straying, the lady who found him already has a dog and is not in a position to keep him. She looked after him for a week while I tried to find a spot for him. It is very easy to get used to him. His house training needs a little attention, easily done with some time and patience.

Max has been in Ash far too long. He first came here with his mum Gill and his 4 siblings. All the pups were homed when they were young, unfortunately Max's owners couldn't take care of him after their circumstances changed.
Rainbow Warrior is a 4 year old Greyhound. He came in together with DJdog. He too was a bit thin, but look at him now. He is good with other dogs. Would prefer a home without cats, he has been trained for racing.
O'Malley is a young adult or older pup. He is a raw diamond, nobody seems to have done much with him. Might be a bit of a challenge unless you have time to spend with him. He is a worthy cause.
Inny has had a rough start in life. She is a loyal friend and eager to please, alas she is not good with children, they frighten her and that makes her unpredictable.
Max is a Boxer x and he has been with us for a while. He is a large boy and will need a strong owner who is going to attend trainings classes with him. Trainings classes are fun, for dogs and owners alike, quality time spend.
Brock is an older dog. He is a curious mix, around his nose and his lower legs are brindle, there seems to be a hint of Shepherd in the shape of his ears. Maybe not and you may see something different in him altogether. Taking him for a walk is one way of finding out more about him.
Sophie is a very strong Boxer or Mastiff cross. She is teritorial and can be dominant. She will be better placed in a home without other dogs and just to be on the safe side also without young children. She has loads of character and will make a loyal, lovable friend for the right person(s).
TJ is so beautiful, have to say he is a bit mad. Urgently needs to attend trainings classes which will benefit him and his owner. He is only a baby of nearly a year old and it is well worth the effort. So much living to do still and although we try our best, there are better places to be than in a rescue centre.
Holly is a wirehaired brown Terrier. She is only one year old. She came to us because she was just that bit too strong for her elderly owner. Holly is not small, she is medium sized and full of energy. Such a lovely dog though, will be game for endless walks and running free once she is properly trained of course
Rover and brother Jack are very handsome Collies indeed. They are brothers and will be 2 years of age soon. They lived with their 6 year old mum and their elderly owner untill 22 Jan 2008. Unfortunately their owner has health problems and can no longer look after them. They were well loved and taken care of, but because there weren't many visitors to the farm they are a bit nervous of all the new things and people they are meeting at the moment. If they could stay together they would be the happiest dogs in the world.
Jack Russell is what we are looking at. Jack appeared in our village a few months ago, possibly dumped. A kind family in our village took him in and had him vaccinated and neutered. They already own a large male dog and their dog wasn't at all pleased with the competition. Before the situation got bad they decided to ask us to re-home Jack and although this isn't the best picture ever someone will see what a gem Jack is.
Snowie and Misty are two little nervous dogs that have been neglected and will need tlc and time to get them over their trauma and back to what they should be. Fun and walks and a warm bed and someone who loves them and is willing to be patient and give them more than what they want back is what they need right now. They should go out together, they are lost as it is and would be utterly lost without eachother.
Bruce is a Staffie cross and he has been in Ash for more than 2 years now. Getting him to walk on the lead was a challenge as he would grab it and bite it and spit it out. Obviously he had been taught the wrong way and it is only now that we can take him for a walk, no problem. Bruce a about 6 years old now and he would really like a home. Staffies and their crosses are bound by the rules set out for restricted breeds. Experienced Staffie owners have preference.
Lilly-Carrie is a beautiful young Lurcher. She was knocked down by a car and she got multiple injuries. Two dislocated hips were a real challenge esp. as one kept popping out. This was surgically corrected and she is recovering. Who will come and meet her and give her a chance? She still needs some care.
Classy is a Pomeranian cross. He is very lively, full of beans. Needs training like many young adult dogs coming into rescue. He is medium in size and a very smart boy. To teach him manners will be the first step, after that he wouldn't mind learning a few new tricks.....
Tyson is only coming to terms with coming into Ash after he had a home for nearly 13 years. Alas for him his owners moved to America and Tyson couldn't come. Although his hearing and his eyesight are not as good as when he was younger, he is a healthy boy and loves his food and his walks.
Ursula is a Collie and what a beautiful girl she is. She is a bit dominant and would be best to be an only dog to prevent jalousy issues. She was found straying and some more training will be needed.
Forest is a young Labrador cross. She was handed in to us and we were told Forest is a male dog and he is the father of the 4-4months old pups that came at the same time. The 4 pups have been homed since but Forest was not the father of the pups, nor the mother as she gave birth to 9 pups 4 weeks later. She will be spayed when her pups are 13 weeks old and hopefully there will be a super home waiting for her as she is a super mum and dog.
Jake and Zoe are both 3 years old. He is neutered and she will be spayed before she is homed. With a new baby in the house they don't get the time and attention they are used to. Zoe a soft and mannerly, Jake is fast and loves to run and play.
