What it costs to run a rescue... If we added up all the costs involved in rescue, and our bank manager caught sight of the total, he would most likely be carted away to the insane asylum, screaming rather loudly! Running a sanctuary has so many hidden costs people do not know about, such as vaccinations, spaying and neutering, de-worming, etc. In addition to these extras are the basics such as food, staff costs, and other supplies. Here is a list of some of the items of expenditure that ASH will encounter this year alone:
In addition to the above, there are always sundry purchases that have to be made, like dog baskets that wear out, special food for undernourished dogs, special medical requirements, etc. So as you can see, the costs all add up. Simple things like spaying & neutering, vaccines and food, can cost us almost €100 per dog/puppy before they are rehomed; and this assumes the dog is rehomed quickly. Long term adult dogs cost us considerably more to keep. Adoption donations We kindly ask that when you are adopting a dog and making a donation, that you take the high running costs of the sanctuary into account. The bare minimum we ask as a donation for a dog you adopt from ASH is €60, but honestly, we hope that in your kindness, seeing the good work we do, you can raise above that figure to help us in our daily struggle to help more dogs find a better life.
