** November dinner - Thursday, 27 November

We are holding a festive fund-raising dinner in the "Heather House Hotel",
in Bray on the 27th of November. This should be a great evening, with good
food, entertainment and our big raffle draw.

We need to know how many people are coming about ten days before the dinner
and tickets must be paid for at time of booking (this is a requirement of
the Hotel). Cost of dinner is 35 Euro. Please let us know if you require a
vegetarian meal when booking. Contact Heather 01 2875347, or Jon 01 2819198
to book your tickets.

Ash are currently selling tickets for our annual raffle, the draw of which
will be held after the festive dinner.

May we take the opportunity to say THANK YOU VERY MUCH to all these
wonderful people who have donated prizes to us, at the end of the day we
would not have a raffle if there were no prizes. We really want to do them
proud by selling loads of tickets and it is here that we need a bit of
help. We need people who are willing to take 5 or 10 books, sell them for
us at work, in your shop, to friends and relatives or in your
street/estate.

Why not send Helena an email ( ) with your address and the
number of books (six tickets per book) you are willing to try sell for ASH,
you can expect them in the post within two days. Remember, "every little
helps", if we all do our bit we can sell them all... Time is short so
please contact us about tickets as soon as possible.

... We have many friends worldwide who have asked us if they can assist the
work of the sanctuary by donating a small amount via their credit card
each month ...

Well, thanks to WorldPay we can now provide this facility to all our
friends! We are hoping our new online facility will really help us in our
fundraising efforts from here on in - to give you a few examples of where
donations go, have a look at some of our expenses for this year to date:

* Vet bills - 12,000 Euro
* Food - 17,600 Euro
* Electricity (heat and light) - 2,000 Euro
* Public liability insurance - 1,018 Euro
* Specialised antiseptic and general cleaning materials - 1,500 Euro
* Transport - 5,615 Euro
* Communications - 2,300 Euro

/ SANCTUARY UPDATE

The following is a short list of some of the major happenings at the
sanctuary since the last eZine:

* Hayshed kennels and runs have been painted for the winter
* We purchased a New Zealand horse blanket for Omar, the schooled
pony we saved from destruction recently
* We re-surfaced the yard of the sanctuary - this was a necessity as
intensive use and rainfall had rendered it unsafe.
* We have become more involved in cat and kitten rescue over the past
few months. Since the last eZine we have taken in and re-homed
approximately twenty cats and kittens.
* We held a 3 day street collection in Baltinglass - we had a great
response - many thanks to all the people who supported us.
* We made two new friends Irma and Marije, who came to us from Holland
to choose a lovely collie who is now called "Ash"! They have graciously
agreed to translate the website into Dutch.
